Prayer and worship are the heartbeat of our school and give us a special sense of identity as a Christian community. Every form in the Academy has its own Worship Leaders who have tranformed their own experiences of worship, and the experiences of their peers for whom they lead. These pupils play a vital role in the Christian life of the school by planning, leading and evaluating prayer and worship.
Worship Leaders put themselves forward for this special role and are fully supported and enabled to fulfil the role regardless of academic ability, background or any other factor.
You can often find our Worship Leaders working with teachers during their lunchtimes to prepare acts of prayer and worship and we are very proud of how they have developed their role in school.
Our Worship Leaders say:
"Being a Worship Leader is a privilege because you teach fellow students about God".
"Being a Worship Leader is amazing, because it is not a teacher standing at the front it is actually the kids teaching other kids about God. It's good because we get to do creative things too".
"Being able to be a Worship Leader is special and a help to the school. I think hearing it from peers not teachers is important".
Worship Leaders are responsible for designing and maintaining worship areas in their form rooms:
Worship Leader Training
Worship Leaders train for their very important role. Working as form teams, they explore a variety of ideas for prayer and worship and plan the activities that they will be coordinating for their groups. The pupils learn how music can be used to enhance their worship times and create a different atmosphere and take part in different prayer activities involving water, plasters, maps and lights! They have such creative ideas and often surprise us with how they use their God-given gifts and talents to provide excellent opportunities for spiritual development, worship and reflection for their peers.
