Vision

To be a learning community that provides excellence in education for the whole person- a place where all can flourish. We believe that, 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.' Philippians 4:13

In this belief, we strive to follow our '4 Rs' of:

  • Ready
  • Respectful
  • Responsible
  • Resilient

It is through following these principles that we can demonstrate our values.

Ethos

Christ Church Academy exists to serve the community in which it exists. As a Church of England middle school each member of the Academy community is valued, respected and treated equally regardless of gender, race, belief and ability.

We seek to enable children to achieve their potential and to flourish through perseverance, hard work, challenge and fun. We do this by devising an exciting and vibrant curriculum, which engages and enthuses our young people and this in turn is supported by our shared Christian values.

Equality

Christ Church Academy actively promotes the value of each person, made in the image of God. The school teaches that discrimination in every form is unacceptable and this is achieved through the PSHE curriculum, worship and assembly time, the wider curriculum and by constantly reinforcing the Academy’s Christian values. All staff support this emphasis on valuing and respecting each other and model this to the children in their classrooms and around the Academy.

Lichfield Diocese Vision

The vision, mission and ministry of the Diocese is focused around the three priority areas of discipleship, vocation and evangelism (DVE) - following in the footsteps of the first bishop of Lichfield, St Chad.

The shared Diocesan vision is:

"As we follow Christ in the footsteps of St Chad, we pray that the two million people in our diocese encounter a church that is confident in the gospel, knows and loves its communities, and is excited to find God already at work in the world. We pray for a church that reflects the richness and variety of those communities. We pray for a church that partners with others in seeking the common good, working for justice as a people of hope."

Here at Christ Church, we continue to keep the important work of the Diocese in our prayers and we too are in theirs: we are part of LDBE's prayer calendar. For more information on this, please click here

At Christ Church Academy we believe that our identity as a Christian community gives us something a bit special...

We root all that we do in the values shown to us by Jesus. Throughout the school, we begin each day with a simple act of prayer. As we study and play together, we try to remember the values we share. During daily Base Time sessions, pupils lead reflections and activities designed to explore our values. Pupils also take responsibility for the prayer areas found in each form room.

At Christ Church we feel that it is no good to simply talk about the things that make us distinctive as a Christian school; we also must act. That is why we aim to serve others through initiatives such as Operation Christmas Child and the Dougie Mac. It is also the reason why we make sure that we ‘live out’ the values that we study as advocates, so that we can see the fruits of our work around us in school and in our wider community.

Learning about our faith does not stop when we leave the school grounds. We enjoy trips to places such as Lichfield Cathedral and also love to welcome visitors to speak to us.

Christ Church Academy regularly worship as a whole school at our local church, Christ Church, Stone. Reverend Kingman plays a vital role in our school, making sure that we have weekly opportunities to come together to worship as Key Stages. Reverend Kingman also supports our Pursuit Club each week, where students have the chance to explore their faith more deeply.

As a Christian school we believe that we offer much more than an academic education; we seek to develop the whole person, offering spiritual, moral, social and cultural development as well as the development of character and identity, allowing our children to become the best versions of themselves, with Christ at the centre of all we do. Our vision is:

To be a learning community that provides excellence in education for the whole person – a place where all can flourish. We believe that:  “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  Philippians 4:13

Worship Leader Training for Advent

Our Worship Leaders have attended some special training prior to the start of Advent. They took part in a special reflection and had the opportunity to explore a range of different activties that they will be able to lead with their own forms. We are delighted with how brilliantly our Worship Leaders are conducting themselves in this important role.

The School Prayer

Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can.

Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.

Amen.

Ideas for Prayer and Worship at Home

Below is a list of suggestions for prayer and worship at home:

  • Set aside an area of your room where you can sit comfortably, without distraction, to pray and reflect. You might want to use cushions, decorate with special pictures or Bible quotes or play quiet worhsip music in the background.
  • Keep a list of things or people you want to pray for. Keep your list somewhere where you notice it often and where it can remind you to pray.
  • Try creating a prayer chain. Write your prayer on a strip of paper and join it to form one link. For each prayer, add it to the chain. This is a lovely way of keeping track of your prayers and revisiting them when you like.
  • Spend time in God's word. If you have a Bible at home, see if you can read a chapter or two during a quiet moment of each day. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are a good place to start if you have not spent time like this before. Don't worry if you don't understand every word that you read- you will grow in understanding the more you read, and you can always pray for God's guidance before you begin your reading. If you don't have a Bible at home, you can read it for free online, using Bible Gateway.
  • Try Bible journaling! If you haven't heard of this before, do some research online. If you want to spend time with God and enjoy art and craft, then this could be for you.
