France Trip 22nd May – 26th May 2023

France Trip 22nd May – 26th May 2023

Dear Parents/Carers

I am currently organising the trip to France for Year 8 pupils (currently Year 7) and have provisionally booked a five-day visit from Monday 22nd May – Friday 26th May 2023. We will be staying half an hour away from Paris, Château de Grande Romaine; a wonderful PGL centre set in its own 70-acre estate in Lésigny. It offers excellent accommodation, particularly good food and extensive leisure facilities, including evening activities. Travel will be by coach and Eurotunnel. You can find more information, as well as a 360-degree tour of the centre, at https://www.pgl.co.uk/en-gb/school-trips/secondary-schools/centres/chateau-de-grande-romaine

There is a full and varied itinerary for the week, which will promote the pupils’ use of French and will also focus on exploring the culture of France. There will be sightseeing in Paris where we shall visit The Eiffel Tower and take a cruise on the river Seine. The pupils will enjoy a truly French theme park experience at Parc Asterix, and in addition, they will have shopping opportunities during a visit to a French market.

The total cost of the trip will be £568.60, which includes travel, full board, insurance and all entrance fees.

If you would like your child to take part in this trip, you will need to pay a non-refundable deposit of £75 to reserve a space. You will be able to pay the deposit from 10am on Friday 1st July 2022. Please note that spaces for this trip are limited. Once the maximum number has been reached you will be unable to pay a deposit. In this event, please email me at s.taylor@cca.staffs.sch.uk to be placed onto a waiting list. Your child’s place will only be confirmed once the deposit has been received.

A second, non-refundable, deposit of £85 will need to be paid no later than 9th September 2022. The remaining balance of £408.60 will be due by Monday 27th February 2023.  You may pay by instalments at any time, but a payment schedule will not be provided. The frequency of payments will be left to your discretion. Please note that in the unlikely event that the minimum number of pupils is not met, the price may increase. You will, of course be notified before proceeding with further payments.

To fully support those who are in need, we can offer some financial help with this educational trip.  This support is available to all pupils who may be in need including those in receipt of Pupil Premium.  If you would like to be considered for some financial support, please contact Mrs Thorn by email before Friday the 8th July 2022 via t.thorn@cca.staffs.sch.uk . You will need to pay the initial £75 deposit in order to secure your child’s place, then the subsequent deposit of £85. Any support granted will be deducted from the remaining balance. All requests will be treated with utmost confidence and respect, Mrs Thorn will reply directly to you.

Passports will be needed for checking in September 2022. They will then be returned to you until a date closer to the trip’s departure. If your child does not already have a valid passport, it is essential that the application process is started as soon as possible once their place on the trip is confirmed. Please note that your child will need to have at least three months left on their passport from the date of travel. This means that if the expiry date is on or before 26th August 2023 then a new passport will need to be applied for. Please note that the cost of the trip does not include the cost of a passport.

We must point out to you that, for reasons of safety and enjoyment, if your child’s behaviour causes problems in or out of lessons from now until the trip, the school has the right to withdraw him or her from the party, with loss of deposit. Each participating pupil and a parent or carer will be required to sign a code of conduct in order to uphold the high expectations of both the travel firm and the school.  This will be sent out once a place has been confirmed.

If you have any questions about the trip, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs S Taylor
