Daniel Morden 04/10/19
On Thursday 3rd October, 30 pupils from Year 6 were treated to a delightful creative writing workshop with the very talented author: Daniel Morden. The children had previously visited the Children’s Bookshow on 25th September to engage and interact with other award winning authors such as Hilary McKay and the workshop with Daniel was a follow up to this visit.
The children sat and listened intently to Daniel’s dramatic recitation of one of his ‘tailored fairy stories’ which brought great amusement to all! The children were then asked to plot the events of the story so far. The best challenge was then to continue Daniel’s story for him, remembering that the finale must be a ‘Happily Ever After’! Daniel’s humour and wit were a warm welcome to the children and we are very honoured to have had such a fantastic creative writing workshop delivered by him personally.
World Book Day 2019 07/03/19
Thank you to everyone who took part or supported our World Book Day 2019! We had a wonderful day and the array of costumes was fantastic! From wizards to warriors, billionaires to berries, the effort that had gone into the fancy dress was amazing. Thank you as well to everyone who contributed to and joined in with our book swap, we hope you all enjoy your brand new books!
Library Coffee Morning 16/10/18

Celebrating ‘Roald Dahl day’ in style!
A huge thank you and well done to everyone who helped us celebrate ‘Roald Dahl day 2018’ by either coming dressed as their favourite Roald Dahl character, or wearing yellow; his favourite colour! We thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Roald Dahl and his life as well as seeing the fantastic costumes the children- and some staff- wore! - Mrs Brough
World Book Day Celebrations!
Following the ‘official’ World Book Day having to be cancelled due to the weather, we enjoyed our very own ‘Christ Church Book Day’ on Wednesday 7th March. We celebrated the day with a book swap in the library, which proved so popular it had to continue running at lunch, as break was just not enough time to get everyone through! In addition, staff and students dressed up as characters from their favourite books- well done to everyone who took part, your costumes were fantastic!
Year 6 took part in an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ dance and drama workshop hosted by the ‘West End Schools’ production company. They thoroughly enjoyed this, and our visiting choreographer as well as the staff who watched the performances commented on how positive and enthusiastic our Year 6 participants were! We certainly have some budding performers in school!
Overall the day was a great success and, again, a huge well done to everyone who took part in any way, or helped us to run the day. I am already looking forward to next year!
