How do I Get Better at Things?
Growth Mindset Afternoon 1 01/03/17
To encourage a growth mindset in all Christ Church Academy pupils, all classes had an afternoon off timetable to complete a series of difficult challenges in their form groups.
All tasks were completed independently with a mantra of try again and don't give up.
All pupils had to create a near-impossible shape from a piece of A4 with no help. Each time they said they couldn't do it, they had to try again.
Pupils then had different challenges depending on the year.
Year 5 – Plastic cup stack
Year 6 – origami
Year 7 – life jackets for babies
Year 8 – basketball tower
Well done to everyone for having a go.
Growth Mindset Afternoon 2 24/03/17
To further develop the 'never say die', growth mindset of pupils at Christ Church Academy, another challenge afternoon was held.
Pupils performed a creative task to encourage an understanding of how mistakes make the brain grow.
Key Stage 2 pupils then drew inspiration from the short film 'Soar' and tried repatedly to build the perfect paper aeroplane.
